Chapter 1 – Review of collected samples, assigning tests and submission to a laboratory (for NFA Regional Offices)



Chapter 1.1. Find and review samples

Step 1: Listing of samples

The NFA regional officer will have access to the LABORATORY SAMPLE button on the main screen. Pressing the button will take you to the Sample listing.

Step 2: Searching through the sample listing

Listing of all samples collected on location basis is available through the selection of the respective Region and pressing of the search button. For more precise search you can select the municipality, community or village in which you would like to search for samples.

Step 3: Specific sample search

Searching for individual samples can be done through entering of the sample ID#, the Holding ID# or the Animal ID# and by pressing the search button.

Step 1: Statuses of samples

There are five statuses that the listed samples might have:

  1. COLLECTED - means that the sample is registered, but not assigned to a laboratory;
  2. QUEUED – the sample is assigned to a laboratory, but results have not been received;
  3. RECEIVED – the sample has been received by the laboratory;
  4. CANCELED – the sample has been rejected by the Laboratory;
  5. PROCESSED – the sample results have been returned.

Step 1: Assigning Test type to campaign samples

The samples eligible for assigning will have COLLECTED status.

Samples will not be assigned 'Test type' by default, which can be changed before Assigning to a given laboratory.

To add the Test type, click on the sample record in the grid to access it, then click on the EDIT LABORATORY SAMPLE button and enter the change. Press SAVE before exiting.

Step 2: Assigning Laboratory samples

Select the samples you would like to assign to a laboratory and press the ASSIGN SAMPLE TO LABORATORY button.

Step 3: Selecting Laboratory

In the new screen you can search for the laboratory using the Laboratory ID, its Address or the Laboratory Name.

You can also filter the search result laboratory list as needed, in order to find the desired laboratory.

Once you have located the laboratory click on it.

Step 4: Review your results

The assigned sample will change its status to QUEUED and the selected laboratory will be displayed.

If you would like to change the assigned laboratory, repeat the selection process and select a different laboratory.

Step 1: Assign laboratory from the HOLDING Laboratory sample screen

Note: This option is only available for Regional Officers.

If you would like to assign a sample from within the HOLDING, access the Laboratory sample screen.

Select the sample/s you would like to assign.

Select the ACTIONS button, select the ASSIGN button and the Laboratory button. Select the Laboratory as shown in Chapter 1.3.

Step 2: Assign laboratory from the INDIVIDUAL ANIMAL Laboratory sample screen

Note: This option is only available for Regional Officers.

If you would like to assign a sample from within the INDIVIDUAL ANIMAL screen, access the Laboratory sample screen.

Select the sample/s you would like to assign.

Select the ACTIONS button, select the ASSIGN button and the Laboratory button. Select the Laboratory as shown in Chapter 1.3,
