Registering samples from animals and holdings (for Sampling officers)
Chapter 1 – Creating a sample from an animal or holding
Step 1: Find the animal or holding
Navigate to the animal or holding from which the sample is being taken using the quick search or the standard search. This includes any type of holding. For more information on how to navigate to the holding, please refer to the Holding manual. |
Chapter 1.1 – Registering of a HOLDING sample
Step 1: Creating holding-based sample
Campaign samples can be registered for samples taken from the HOLDING (swab, soil, feed etc.) or from the ANIMAL. On the holding screen, for registration of a HOLDING sample, click on the OTHER and then on the LABORATORY SAMPLE title in the left panel. | |
Step 2: Adding a new sample
The SAMPLE screen lists all of the samples that have been taken on holding level, including those that have been processed (with results) on the right screen and those that are to be processed on the left screen. For registering of a NEW sample press the ADD button. Note: Laboratory samples numbers are generated on basis of the Holding or Animal ID#, to which a sequence number is added /1, /2 etc. | |
Step 3: Adding data for a new sample
Add information as instructed by the Regional Officer on: 1. Disease to be tested; 2. Type of sample taken; Note: There is a correlation between the type of sample and disease. 3. Test type - tells/inform the Laboratory what kind of test to use. It’s set by default to 'Antibody detection' as this is most common, but it can be changed as needed; 4. Add the date of collection. The remaining fields are auto filled. Press SAVE. The collected sample will be visible in the left screen with status COLLECTED. | |
Step 4: Review of the samples
Keep in mind that the holding LABORATORY SAMPLE screen will provide for all samples taken from the selected holding, including the animal and the holding level samples. |
Chapter 1.2 – Registering of individual ANIMAL sample
Step 1: Accessing the animal screen
Access the individual animal page through the ANIMAL sections in the HOLDING screen or through the Animal Search or quick search. Click on the LABORATORY SAMPLE button in the left screen panel. | |
Step 2: Adding a new sample

Chapter 1.3 – Registering of campaign ANIMAL sample
Step 1: Navigate to the Animals screen
Once on the Animals screen, select the animals from which samples have been collected in accordance to the campaign instructions. | |
Step 2: Add the action
Add the date of the action and from the Action menu select the Activity submenu and select the Sampling campaign in line with your instructions. As next step, select the date of the sampling and register the samples. | |
Step 3: Check the sample creation
Return to the Holding screen or the individual Animal screen (by clicking on the animal grid), and then select the OTHER ⇒ LABORATORY SAMPLE button, to access the sampling grid. The campaign sample with all of the details will be visible in the left panel under status COLLECTED. Keep in mind that the 'Test type' is selected by default during the Campaign registration to Antibody testing and can be changed as needed. | |
Step 4: Editing the sample data
If you would like to change the sample information, click on the sample record in the grid to access it, then click on the EDIT LABORATORY SAMPLE button and enter the desired changes. Press SAVE before exiting. |
TB sample registration and result
To take tuberculosis samples, we need to enter the holding, the animals section and mark the desired animals | |

Then press the activity button, we select the type of activity and then the TB campaign and press it.
This action will create appropriate samples in the system. | |
To see the samples, we enter the holding where the samples were created. In the lower left corner of the screen, we select the button - other, then we press the button Laboratory Sample, as a result of which the animals that have been tubercularized will appear on the screen, then we press on the desired animal. | |
To change the status of the sample, we enter the desired station, press the button Laboratory Sample and press on the desired animal | |
The animal sample menu will open, where we press the button Edit laboratory sample, then we will find and open the Sample Result window and select the tuberculinization reading result.
After changing the status, press the Save button |
